Seaward PrimeTest 100 PAT Tester - New 5th Edition

The upgraded version of Seaward's PrimeTest 50, the PrimeTest 100 is designed with ease of use in mind with simple, three-button control for fast and convenient switching between testing modes and portable, handheld design for porting from appliance to appliance.

Seaward's Primetest 100 is compliant with the 5th Edition Code of practice and is now capable of;

• 250V insulation Resistance Test and new settings menu where you can choose the default test voltage (you can switch to the non-default test voltage (250V /500v) by holding down the test key)
• Select pass-fail values for earth continuity (0.1, 0.2, 0.3Ω) from the menu
• Long lead testing
• Class 1 equipment with no exposed parts and a Class 2 FE test sequence
• Pass-fail limit of 5mA for Equivalent Leakage test

These updates have meant the Primetest 100 can stay relevant whilst still offering the same value for money and easy-to-use features you can expect from the PT100.

This tester is suitable for use in carrying out earth continuity, insulation resistance and substitute leakage with measured test result values.

Seaward PATMobile App

Designed for use with Seaward's PrimeTest PAT Testers, the Seaward PATMobile App (available for free from GooglePlay**) is a manual data entry app capable of recording and organising data and asset records, as well as producing and exporting PDF and CSV reports. Additionally, when used with Seaward’s Test ‘n’ Tag Printer and compatible labels (sold separately), the Seaward PATMobile App can be used to produce labels. Accessing the required features, functions and settings is made quick and easy as a result of the Seaward PATMobile App’s intuitive and fast interface. Moreover, its powerful and quick search and filter allow the user to view required and relevant data efficiently.

In addition to this, the Seaward PATMobile App’s dashboard enables the user to monitor assets and see which appliances have become out-of-date. Other tools included in this app are integrated calculators for risk-assessments and resistance, auto-incrementation of asset IDs, and support for user-customisation: the user can upload a company logo or signature for inclusion in reports. It is also possible to include images of the appliance, captured using the smartphone's/ tablet’s camera, in records and reports.

The Seaward PATMobile App can also be used for the following:

Seaward PrimeTest 100 FAQs

We often get asked a lot of questions about the PrimeTest 100 capabilities, functions and other quirks. That's why we've put together this handy FAQs section to answer all of these common questions!

Is The PT100 Suitable For Testing Mains Sockets?

Yes! After switching on the tester by holding down both the class I and class II buttons until it beeps twice, plug a short IEC lead into the tester's IEC socket and the 13A plug end directly into the mains socket.

If the test is a pass, the letters 'LN', 'LE' and 'NE' will be displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. These values will be displayed alongside a tick (√) icon and the word 'PASS'.

If a problem is detected and there's a fault in the socket (e.g. disconnected earth), a cross will be displayed against each portion of the test which failed.

What Does LO LOAd On The Screen Mean And Why Is It Displayed?

You'll likely see this before an insulation test; this is because the PT100 is checking the load (in Watts) of the equipment but it can't read below 200W.

If the wattage of the equipment under test is below that level (for example a 23W battery charger), the LO LOAd icon will be displayed. This is not a fault; it is only indicating that it can't see a load.

To fix, simple press the button again and the tester will continue testing. The usual cause for this display is that you may not have switched the equipment on, in which case you should immediately switch it on and try again.

Does The Primetest 100 Have Any Quirks?

The PrimeTest 100 has some interesting features.

The abbreviations on the screen are as follows:

• “Rpe” stands for Resistance of Protective Earth and is measured in Ohms.
• “Riso” stands for Resistance of Insulation and is measured in MegOhms.
• “Ileak” stands for Touch or Leakage Current and is measured in milliamps.
