Megger PAT150 PAT Tester Description

The Megger PAT150 PAT Tester has been optimised for convenience, practicality and versatility. It is completely compliant with UK and European requirements for electrical safety testing and includes an extensive variety of testing procedures.

As this model is an upgraded version of the Megger PAT120 PAT Tester it shares some features, functions and measurement capabilities with its sister product. 

For instance, and with regards to its practicality and convenience, this instrument, like the PAT120, can be powered using either AA or NiMH batteries and has an average battery life of up to four days (if the user tests 120 assets a day). This combined with its rugged design, featuring rubber armoured cases and hardened scratch-proof glass, makes the instrument suitable for use in environments such as building sites and warehouse where an electricity supply may not be readily accessible.

Furthermore, like its predecessor, the Megger PAT150 PAT tester is able to fully display test results and includes a tick/cross PASS/ FAIL indicator. It also includes the following tests and functions:

• Test groups: these ensure that the correct tests are performed in the correct sequence for particular types of appliances
• Includes test groups for class I, class II and extension/power leads
• Insulation tests: default at 500V, selectable at 250V
• The tester is able to maintain the selected voltage down to 0.5MΩ when conducting insulation tests
• Substitute/ alternative leakage test (mains power supply is not needed)
• Continuity test (20ma DC in both polarities)

As indicated above the Megger PAT150 PAT Tester is an upgraded version of the PAT120 and as such also includes a number of tests, features and functions not found on the simpler model. These include:

• RCD tests for 10mA and 30mA RCDs and PRCDs
• An ability to check 10mA and 30mA RCDs for disconnection times and the manual test button function
• This instrument will not trip external RCDs when conducting RCD tests
• The user is able to configure the pass limits for each test group
• To prevent  measurement errors the PAT150 includes a feature for nulling bond lead resistance
• Live circuit measurements for testing mains supply and socket polarity or electrical circuit voltage to 300V AC
• Conduct continuity tests, insulation tests, mains powered leakage tests and SELV measurements via the Quick Test button
• Measure SELV to 50V AC
• PASS/ FAIL indicator for SELV measurements
• When performing a mains powered leakage test, the instrument-under-investigation will remain functional
• NiMH batteries can be recharged whilst connected to the PAT150 PAT Tester
